In March 2022, Scott Hall experienced a hospitalization due to a fall that resulted in a broken hip. He remained immobile on the floor for several days until his friend Diamond Dallas Page conducted a wellness check and discovered him. Hall was then taken to the hospital by Page. Following a hip replacement surgery, Hall faced complications as a blood clot became dislodged. This led to three heart attacks on March 12, 2022. Consequently, he was placed on life support at WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia.
On March 14, 2022, Hall’s family gathered by his bedside at the hospital after he was taken off life support. Tragically, he passed away about 4 to 6 hours later at the age of 63. Later that day, WWE announced his passing through a tribute video on that day’s episode of Raw.
After Hall’s demise, it became known four days later through Waltman’s communication with the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Hall had regrettably returned to alcohol misuse. The isolation brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns had deprived him of social interactions, leading to this relapse. At one point, his weight had plummeted from his usual 287 pounds (130 kg) to 210 pounds (95 kg). Waltman also disclosed that Hall’s condition was particularly dire on the eve of the 2021 Hall of Fame induction ceremony, recounting an incident where he had even fainted at a bar.
Furthermore, Waltman shared that Hall’s state had progressively worsened in the two years leading up to his passing. In an attempt to assist with Hall’s health challenges, Waltman had offered to move in with him in February 2022. Page, too, returned to provide support in light of Hall’s struggles with alcoholism.
On April 8, 2022, Hall was laid to rest at Trinity Church Cemetery in St. Mary’s, Maryland, his hometown. The funeral service was attended by fellow wrestlers including Kevin Nash, Sean Waltman, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and Page.
RIP Razor.
