The Death of Terry Funk

During June of 2021, Don Muraco, a fellow wrestling icon, disclosed that Terry Funk had received a diagnosis of dementia and was residing in an assisted living facility. Nevertheless, news emerged on December 29, 2021, through Ric Flair’s podcast with Mark Madden, revealing that Funk had returned to his home and was on an upward trajectory.

Tragically, on August 23, 2023, at the age of 79, Terry Funk passed away, marking the end of an era in the wrestling world.

The episode of SmackDown that aired on August 25, 2023, paid tribute to both Terry Funk and Bray Wyatt, who passed away on August 24. They were remembered through tributes and behind-the-scenes footage. Additionally, the episode featured a hardcore tag team match with the same name as him, between The Brawling Brutes and the Street Profits.
